HELP US TO BE COMPASSIONATE, LORD

I destroy homes. I tear families apart. I take your children and that’s just the start. I’m more valued than diamonds, more precious than gold. The sorrow I bring is a sight to behold. If you need me, remember, I’m easily found I live all around you, in school and in town. I live with the rich, I live with the poor. I live just down the street and maybe next door. I’m made in a lab, but not one like you think. I can even be made under your kitchen sink. In your child’s closet and even out in the woods. If this scares you to death, then it certainly should. I have many names, but there’s one you’ll know best. I’m sure you’ve heard of me: my name is “CRYSTAL METH’.” My power is awesome, try me, you’ll see. But if you do, you may never break free. Just try me once and I might let you go. But if you try me twice then I am your soul. When I possess you, you’ll steal and you’ll lie. You’ll do what you have to do just to get high. The crimes you’ll commit for my narcotic charms Will be worth the pleasures you feel in our arms. You’ll lie to your mother, you’ll steal from your dad. When you see their tears, you must feel sad. Just forget your morals and how you were raised. I’ll be your conscience, I’ll teach you my ways I take kids from their parents I take parents from their kids I take people from God, I separate friends I’ll take everything from you, your looks and your pride I’ll be with you always, right by your side. You’ll give up everything; your family, your money, and your friends Then you’ll be alone I’ll take and I’ll take until you have no more to give. When I’ve finished with you, you’ll be lucky to live. If you try me. be warned THIS IS NOT A GAME If I’m given the chance, I’ll drive you insane. I’ll ravage your body. I’ll control your mind. I’ll own you completely. Your soul will be mine. The nightmares I’ll give you while you are lying in bed My voice you will hear from inside your head The sweats, the shakes and the visions you’ll see I want you to know, these things are your gifts from me. By then it is too late. You’ll know in your heart That you are mine and we shall not part. You’ll regret that you tired me (they always do). But you came to me, not I to you. You knew this would happen. Many times you were told. But you challenged my power. You chose to be bold. You could have said “NO” and then walked away. If you could live that day over, now what would you say??? My power is awesome as I told you before. I can take your mother and make her a whore. I’ll be your master, and you’ll be my slave. I’ll even help take you to your grave. Now that you’ve met me, what will you do? Will you try me or not? It’s all up to you. I can show you more misery than words can tell. Come hold my hand, let me lead you to HELL!!!! CRYSTAL METH (Author Unknown)

The Da Vinci Code

If we would all take a few moments to think about all of the controversy regarding the movie "The Da Vinci Code" and the book by the same name, we may realize a very important point. Many of us are playing right into the hands of the author and movie maker. So many Christians are going to see the movie and are buying the book, "so that we will know how to respond to people who believe the lies." By spending money on the movie and the book we are padding the pockets of the deceivers. There have been lies spread about Jesus from the day He was born and will not stop until the end of the world as we know it. We all need to ask the Holy Spirit to grant us wisdom in how He would have us respond. I don't think He would tell us to spend our money on this trash. Just something to think about

Thoughts

What are you thinking about today?

Philippians 4:6 NLT And now, dear brothers and sisters, let me say one more thing as I close this letter. Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

Many times we say or hear others say, Ive got a lot on my mind. Christians are not of this world, but we must live in this world. We are bombarded on all sides. We watch the news and we may become angry or fearful. The people we work with are spreading rumors about some of your fellow workers and you find yourself thinking about those accusations and wondering if they are true. Maybe you are in a financial bind right now and you are trying to think of a way out of the mess that you are in. Think, think, think, we all do a lot of it.

Father, sometimes my head is so full of thoughts of all kinds. I dont want my mind full of thoughts that are not pleasing to You or beneficial to me or others. Therefore, I confess that I will fix my thoughts on what is true and honorable and right. On what is pure and lovely and admirable and worthy of praise. In Jesus name. Amen.

Pure Joy

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be complete, not lacking anything. James 1:2-4 NIV

These are scriptures that I used to avoid. But as I began growing and maturing in the Lord, I couldnt ignore them. I wish that I could say that I have mastered them, but I cant. Its not easy to be joyful in the midst of pain, sickness, lack of any kind and in losses. Sometimes I cry and sometimes I get so discouraged that I dont want to go on any longer. Sometimes I even feel angry.

I know deep in my heart that my Lord has my best interests in mind when He allows certain things in my life. When I really get down, I remind myself that my time here on earth is only a moment compared to eternity; that what I am going through right now is only temporary. I also remind myself that if I stand firm and strong in the Lord that I will spend eternity with Him. Throughout eternity, I will have no pain, no sickness, I will lack nothing and I will experience pure joy every moment, because I will finally be where my heart longs to be -- with Him, and I will dwell in His presence forever.

Father, please forgive me when I don't want to walk the road that is before me for a while. I know that You love me more than I can even begin to comprehend, and that if I will stand faithful to the end, I will see your face. Thank you, Lord, for that promise and the hope it brings me. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Thankful

Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5: 18 NIV

This scripture doesn't just apply to the holiday we call Thanksgiving. It is something that is learned as we grow and mature in the Lord.

I remember the first time this verse really had an impact on me. I was a brand new Christian and my life was a mess. I was in the process of a nasty divorce, trying to raise three children with no child support or help from anyone. When I read those words, I felt like asking God how He could expect me to thank Him for all this mess and unbearable pain. My pastor assured me that no matter what, we need to give thanks. It was difficult, but I prayed and told the Lord that I want to be obedient, but I just didn't know how to thank Him for this. In the months and years that followed, I grew tremendously in my walk with the Lord.
That was many years ago. I survived that difficult time and there was a season of what I considered to be a season of blessings. Just as seasons change, our circumstances change. Sometimes for what we consider good and sometimes for what we consider bad. And just when we have learned a lot in the Lord, we find that we still have so much more to learn.

The last few years of my life have been very challenging. Due to chronic illness and pain, my life is no longer as it was. But, thank God, I have grown and matured in the Lord so that no matter what is happening and no matter how much pain I am in, I can still thank God for His love and His mercy to carry me through the hard times. I have learned that it is in the hard times that I can lean on Him and be in peace.

Father, not just on Thanksgiving, but everyday, help us to be truly thankful for all that You have done for us and all than You are yet to do in and for us. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Blessings

Matthew 5:3 AMP Blessed (happy, to be envied, and spiritually prosperous--with life-joy and satisfaction in God's favor and salvation, regardless of their outward conditions) are the poor in spirit (the hu mble, who rate themselves insignificant), for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Of all of the translations of the Bible, the Amplified Bible is my first pick. I have worn out several copies.

As I was reading this afternoon, I came to Matthew Chapter 5 verse 3, and I began to wonder how many people can testify that they identify completely with this verse. I don't yet, but I want to. The world pumps into us that happiness is money, posssessions, prestige, owning the most expensive home, car, clothing, etc. People of the world are focused on one person and it isn't Jesus. Society is being told to have self-confidence, self-esteem. (There is a balance to be reached). Everything is focused on ME, ME, ME.

If we live by the world's standards, we will never have peace, because we will always want more. But if we surrender our hearts and lives to Jesus, the One who loves us so much, He will begin a work in us and we will come to a place where the things of the world won't matter to us anymore, and Jesus will mean everything to us.

Settle You Down

And The peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:7 NKJV

Peace can mean different things to different people. To some it neams quiet, no arguing or fighting, no shouting (referring to the legal definition of disturbing the peace). To others, it may mean that there are no problems to deal with and everything is going well. But the peace that Paul is referring to in Phillipians is a spritual peace, something that we cannot even define with words. I like what the Message Bible says in the same verse. Before you know it, a sense of God's wholeness, everything coming together for good. will come and settle you down. It's wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worries at the center of your life.(Phil 4:7). Notice that it says, "will come and settle you down". So that leads us to think that there will be times when we struggle with worry. These verses are telling us that no matter how much noise and agitation is going on around us, no matter how many things are going wrong, we can experience God's peace.

Father, help us to begin to understand what true peace is. May we seek Your face and study Your Word. As we grow in our relationship with You, we will grow and one day we will begin to comprehend true peace. In Jesus' name. Amen.
